What to look for in dining

Measure your space first. Hall and console tables are usually slim to suit walkways, while coffee and lamp tables should sit within easy reach of seating. Match the table height to the sofa arm or seat beside it.

Styling and caring for dining

Choose a table size in proportion to the space and the furniture around it: a hall or console table suits a wall or the back of a sofa, while a coffee table should sit within easy reach of the seating. Style the top in odd-numbered groups, such as a lamp, a few books and a decorative object, and leave some surface clear.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth, keep the leather away from heat and prolonged sun, and treat it occasionally with a quality leather conditioner. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature.
